Level 2 Coaching Certificate for Generic Roller Skating

Theory Element
This comprises of the Sports Coach UK “Coaching Essentials”
workshops to fall in line with the new National Coaching Certificate.
It consists of five modules:

Coaching theory is generic and these modules are suitable for anyone wanting
to coach any sport.
Where & When
The theory elements take place at Studio One, Southport YMCA, 81 Houghton
Street, Southport, PR9 0PR on
Saturday 21st July 2007 from 9am~4.30pm & Monday 23rd from 17.30~21.00pm.
Attendance at both sessions are required to complete the course
The cost of the theory element alone is £120.
BRSF learners who have achieved these modules in the past 3 years can receive Accreditation for
Prior Learning.
Practical Element
The practical element takes the form of a number of practical
workshops and includes how to teach the first four grades of the BRSF Basic Skills Scheme
“Skate Smart”.
The BRSF Level 2 Coaching Course, practical element is applicable to all disciplines of
skating and both inline and quad skates.
Assessment of this element is based upon observing the candidates successfully teaching a
group of non-skaters the basic elements of skating, such as: how to tie-up boots correctly,
how to stand-up, move forward, how to turn and so on, through to becoming modestly
comfortable and becoming modestly competent and safe when wearing roller boots.

Practical takes place in Studio One and the YMCA Sports Hall
Southport YMCA, 81 Houghton Street, Southport, PR9 0PR on Saturday 28th July & Sunday
29th July 2007 from 9am~4.30pm on both days.
Attendance at both sessions are required to complete the course
The BRSF Level 2 Coaching Qualification is appropriate for teaching young people to skate
in schools and leisure centres and is becoming the standard qualification required by an
increasing number of Education Authorities and Local Authority Leisure
Service Departments
across the UK.
The cost of both the theory & the practical elements is £200.
Source of Funding
The cost of training sports coaches is very often fundable
from Local Authority Sports Development Grant, please contact the Sports Development
Department of the Council that your club is located within and make appropriate enquiries.
