CRIMINAL RECORDS BUREAU
Disclosure Applications |
|
All adults working with children and young people under the age of 18, should be aware of the
requirement that people working with children and young people are required to submit
themselves to a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Disclosure check at periodic intervals.
What may not be so widely known is how individuals set about obtaining a CRB Disclosure.
Note: There are similar similar arrangements in Scotland through Disclosure Scotland
(website)
and in Northern Ireland through
Access Northern Ireland
(website)
CRB Disclosure applications
(specimen alongside)
are initially processed (document checking etc.) on behalf of the Criminal Records Bureau
by third party organisations that have been granted the status of an Umbrella Body, (also
known as a Registered Body)
(
When the CRB office have finished their checks two copies of the "Disclosure"
(specimen alongside)
are sent out, one to the person named in the disclosure, to the address shown on the
disclosure, this copy is printed with a unique shade of green ink on uniquely coloured green
paper, the second copy is sent to the organisation requesting the disclosure.
If you have completed an application form and have not received a copy of the disclosure
through your letter box within ten to twelve weeks, then enquiries should be made of the
umbrella body that processed the application on your behalf.
What may not so widely known is that the British Inline Puck Hockey Association, who are an
affiliate of the British Roller Sports Federation have held the status of an Umbrella Body
for some years and are able to provide a CRB disclosure checking service for both clubs and
individuals. This service is also available to clubs and individuals outside the wider BRSF
family.
(see here for confirmation)

have made satisfactory arrangements to apply for and obtain CRB Disclosures, the following
notes are for those new to this process and for those who are looking to review their
existing arrangements.
